Alfred Williams Charitable Trust

Open
Last updated: 17/06/2025

The main aim of the Alfred Williams Charitable Trust is to help fund particular projects in the area of the natural and historic man-made environment in Suffolk only. In this we include conservation and restoration, but not on-going activities or routine maintenance. The trust supports repairs to the fabric of historic buildings, but not the reordering, for example the trust would not support adding a kitchen/toilets to a church.

As a small trust we feel we can make a difference in that sector, unlike those that require large, mainly government, resources such as health, education and social welfare. That said, we do from time to time look at modest requests in those areas particularly if they are filling an uncovered local need.

We do not donate to individuals and we only give to national charities if it is for a Suffolk project. We try to favour those causes that find it harder to raise money from the general public. Distance from our base near Stowmarket tends to affect the size of a donation and the success of an application.
