Giving to Heritage
Giving to Heritage is The Heritage Alliance’s exciting training programme for fundraisers in the heritage sector in England and Wales. A similar programme is also running in Scotland called Resourcing Scotland’s Heritage.
Working in partnership with the Institute of Fundraising, it represents a major step change in fundraising to help secure a productive future for many of our heritage assets. This training programme is for any member of staff, volunteer, committee member or trustee from a heritage or community group with responsibility to develop and deliver fundraising activities for a heritage project, museum or other heritage organisation.
In its initial two years, Giving to Heritage training has been received by over 1,100 heritage staff and volunteers, representing nearly 600 different organisations. Confidence levels in heritage fundraising and capacity building have increased substantially and there have been several examples of real successes including major sums raised from new approaches donors.
A second phase extends Giving to Heritage for another 12 months from June 2016- June 2017. This will re-run the most popular elements in a series of workshops, webinars, coaching and other training events at locations across England for both inexperienced and, now, also for more experienced fundraisers. Workshops, costed at around £20 per head as before, are heavily subsidised so that all can take advantage of the training.
In addition, a series of new workshop subjects will be launched covering how to apply for social investment funds and how to set up a community shares project. For further information, workshop dates and how to register, please visit the Giving to Heritage website.
